“Mommy, what is Tsunami?” my little twins asked me while we were hiking in Fern Canyon. I told them Tsunami is a big ocean wave that can fill up this whole canyon. “I am NOT afraid of Tsunami!” my little girls insist, “I can swim!!”
When we reached the top of the canyon, I pointed them to the “Leaving Hazard Zone” sign: “Now, we don’t need to be afraid of Tsunami! Because we are taller than that big wave.”:-)
At the top of the canyon, there are more redwoods. However, they look a bit different. Although the same giants, they appear younger and slender, and many of their branches are covered with luxuriant mosses. Not All redwood forests are created the same!
Besides talking tough to Tsunami, and walking on fallen trees, my twins’ favorite part in Fern Canyon had to be riding our car over big water puddles.
