On New Year’s day, we visited Sequoia National Park, where the biggest tree on earth, General Sherman Tree, resides.

General Sherman Tree, about 2,200 years old. Not the oldest nor the tallest, but the biggest living tree on earth!
It’s about 3-hour drive from the coast of California, where we stayed the night before, to get to the entrance of Sequoia National Park. Then, it’s another hour and half drive on a windy road up the mountain to meet the tree. My tough twins finally succumbed to the motion sickness on the way up the mountain. Prior, they didn’t even complain much on a rough sea of a whale watching trip…
Twin girls were rewarded by snow when we got to General Sherman tree. Although frozen hard, my girls were thrilled for having some snow to play with.
The trails were covered with frozen snow so it was a bit dangerous to hike. We saw people fell left and right around us. So besides the big tree, we didn’t see much in the park this time.
We would need to stay closer to the park next time so that we wouldn’t spend much of the day driving on the road. If we come back again, it will be a spring when there will be more wild animals to see and some of the famous caves will be open again.
